Like "Trinity", the word "Purgatory" is not found in the bible but the belief or purgatory is.
Purgatory exists not only in Catholic Belief but the Jews and Muslims also believe in a place of cleansing.
OLD TESTAMENT
Zechariah 13:9 I will bring the one third through fire, and I will refine them as silver is refined, and I will test them as gold is tested. They shall call upon my name, and I will hear them. I will say, "They are my people," and they shall say, "The LORD is my God."
Malachi 3:2 And who shall be able to think of the day of his coming? and who shall stand to see him? for he is like a refining fire, and like the fuller's herb:
Malachi 3:3 And he shall sit refining and cleansing the silver, and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and shall refine them as gold, and as silver, and they shall offer sacrifices to the Lord in justice.
NEW TESTAMENT
1Corinthians 3:12 Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,
1Corinthians 3:13 each man's work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man's work.
1Corinthians 3:14 If any man's work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward.
1Corinthians 3:15 If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
Revelation 21:27 and nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.

"There are not more than 100 people in the world who truly hate the Catholic Church, but there are millions who hate what they perceive to be the Catholic Church. ....As a matter of fact, if we Catholics believed all of the untruths and lies which were said against the Church, we probably would hate the Church a thousand times more than they do." -----Archbishop Sheen

Sorry but unless you post the source in it's full context it means nothing.
I'll give you a few days to post it, if not I will delete your statement.
The "catholic encyclopedia" is not offical Church doctrine. On top of that the website you posted is not Catholic.
Have any offical doctrine? How about from the catechism?
